Water/Wastewater Operator

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

To perform a variety of skilled operation, maintenance and repairs of all water and wastewater facilities. To complete all EPA mandates and requirements. And, to assist other departments on projects as necessary. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Monitor, record, and interpret: SCADA controls, process data, test results, meter and gauge readings. 
  • Monitor, record, and adjust: process operations, procedures, protocols, policies, maintenance schedules, breaks and failures, safety practices, housekeeping, State and Federal EPA laws and regulations. 
  • Respond, evaluate, and repair: malfunctions, breaks, process interruptions, failures and emergencies. 
  • Perform: inspections and maintenance of all facilities, equipment, hardware, vehicles, lab procedures and testing, O.U.P.S. locates and responses.   


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years' experience in water and, or wastewater operations.
  • Possession of appropriate OEPA classification certificates. OEPA Class I Water Supply, Class II Wastewater Operator.
  • Possession of a valid Class B commercial driver's license.


NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS. AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of current OEPA drinking water and wastewater standards. 
  • Knowledge of current OEPA laboratory, sampling, and testing procedures. 
  • Knowledge of current safety laws and practices, and the skills and abilities to properly carry out those practices in all areas of the operation. 
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools. 
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of heavy equipment: backhoe, excavator, skidsteer, loader, trencher, tractor, and dump trucks.
  • Ability to safely work in adverse weather conditions and situations. 
  • Ability to safely work in emergency situations and irregular schedules. 
  • Ability and willingness to respond to call outs and emergencies. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. The employee must frequently lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  

Assistant Street - Full Time

The Village of Beach City is seeking a qualified individual for a full time Assistant Street position - $17.00 /hr.  


General description: 

Under the direction of the Superintendent, maintains streets, alleys, storm sewer system, parks, grounds, buildings, cemetery, equipment, and vehicles, operates heavy equipment, responds to emergencies 24/7, adheres to all safety guidelines and policies, perform burials, assists other Village departments as assigned.​  


Essential knowledge and abilities: 

Basic mechanical, cognitive, and construction knowledge. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, practices, and safety of road maintenance and repair. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and be able to work overtime, weekends, in adverse weather conditions and on call as needed. Ability to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment.​  


Minimum Requirements: 

High school diploma or GED. Currently have a valid Ohio Driver’s license with a Class B CDL endorsement. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
